Lisa’s mother nags her husband because he can’t find a job and, as she says, just hangs around at home and gets on her nerves. When he expresses an opinion, his wife says: ‘I don’t care what you think, you’re just a layabout!’
What is your opninion?
- I can understand that a man who can’t get a job might get on your nerves
- If Lisa’s father doesn’t defend himself, then he really is a layabout!
- No one should treat another person like that

It’s not fair to insult someone and prevent them from having an equal say in family affairs. Constant insults are degrading and damage a person’s self-respect. Lack of respect creates a bad and tense atmosphere and can lead to physical violence. The sooner everyone gets out of the cycle of violence, the better.
